With a sensitive, rather feminine, approach to design and mindful to the cultural heritage of the place, Elastic Architects ventured to redesign Rodos Maris Resort & Spa at the southeast coast of Rhodes Island. Inspired by the existing building structure and aiming to amplify its architectural integrity, we attempted the use of monumental forms such as cross-arch domes as an emblem of eternity reaching to the mythical Gods – symbols that resonate well with the island’s legendary myths.

Sweet, earthly tones and organic textures create seamless harmony between spaces enabling them to organically relate to one another. Within the grandeur that the dome forms emanate, natural elegance and subtle luxury unfold within the resort’s suites which garner a sense of ethereal romance.

Adopting elements from local architecture and ingraining the building’s rigidness with soft, romantic touches, the renewed resort balances between simplicity and awe-provoking grandiosity that carries guests away to past times of medieval allure.
