CONCEPT
Τhe Stanley hotel is located in Karaiskaki Square, in the center of Athens. The restaurant, which is on the ninth floor of the building, is offering a 360 panoramic view to guests. It is reestablished as the “Observatory” of the area, as it embraces the center of Athens and refers to the sacred rock of the Acropolis, with which it has direct eye contact.
The concept emerged from the ancient, secret ritual of Arrephoria in honor of the goddess Athena, to celebrate the early morning dew and to ensure euphoria of the earth and the plantation. The conceptual meanings of this myth, were conveyed by Elastic Architects, into simple, yet rich, design, materiality, and space. The values of the goddess Athena and the euphoria of the earth are represented by green elements with emphasis to the olive trees. The celebration of the morning dew, is represented by fresh color palettes & materials, the “peplos of Athena” in high aesthetic upholsteries, while the fountain “Clepsydra” – representing the end of the celebration process- is symbolized by the centered pool – the water element.
The open plan layout that encompasses an all-day bar, restaurant and a pool area, is envisioned into a high – aesthetics and hospitality space, with ethereal, eclectic and naturalistic design elements.
